INTRODUCTION

The department is registered as a class E Laboratory by the Kenya Medical Technicians and Technologists Board( KMLTTB). 
It consist of Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Serology and parasitology sections.

The laboratory is committed to providing high quality pathology in diagnosis and prognosis of diseases among the students, staff and their dependant. The laboratory operates 24/7 a week including public holidays. Services are offered in three shifts of, morning ( 7.30am-1.30pm), afternoon (1.30pm-7.30pm) and night (7.30pm-7.30am).

To improve on quality, the laboratory is enrolled in both EQA and IQA processes. As part of seamless and online service delivery, the laboratory is integrated to other hospital departments through LIMS (SmartHealth). This significantly improves confidentiality, data security and laboratory archive.

The laboratory offers a wide range of investigations to support the following service delivery;

  4. Post rape investigations
  5. CCC Clinic
  6. MCH clinic
  7. Nutrition and dietetic clinic
  8. TB clinic
  9. Counseling and wellness clinic
  10. Specialized consultancy clinics which include: paediatrics and gynaecology clinics.

The laboratory is enrolled to National Public Health Laboratories (NPHL-MOH) as a referral system for investigations beyond it is scope. It also networks with private laboratories such as Lancet Laboratories for referral purposes.
