Introduction
The department facilitates ICT related services within the directorate of university health services and all affiliated clinics in all campuses. This ensures the smooth delivery of health services to both students and staff.

Responsibilities of the department

  • To keep abreast of current hardware and software developments.
  • Set up equipment such as laptops, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems and other specialist ICT equipment, ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly.
  • Assist in creating a structured approach to rolling out new hardware or software, including procurement, testing and assessing the needs of user training.
  • Provide and use support to computer users to ensure there is smooth working and use of computers in the directorate.
  • Liaise with the system vendors to update and upgrade the computer system to suit changing users need/Demands.
  • Receive and assess ICT related equipment so as to ensure they are as per requisition.
  • Implement management policies regarding medical schemes within the computer system.
  • Install and configure ICT related equipment and the health management system (smarthealth system) in the directorate to facilitate service delivery.
  • Receive hardware/Software related issues from users and facilitate correction of the same in the directorate to facilitate smooth running of services.
  • Resolve hardware/software technical issues within the directorate of Health services and areas around.
  • Represent ICT office of the directorate in relevant meetings to organize community outreach activities.
  • Analyze decision data generated in various sections of the directorate for correctness and make corrections to achieve desired output such as cost incurred in provision of services.
  • Provide advice on nature of equipment ICT that are needed in the department for procurement purpose and for use by the directorate staff.
  • Update computer software as and when needed.
  • Training of users on use of computer software(s) and Hardware(s).
  • Provide technical support to remote areas such as campuses as per the request by the director health services.
  • Provide technical support in seminars, workshops, trainings, etc. as requested
  • Design of artwork using computer within the department for use during function of the directorate.
  • Ensure that the completeness of data captured in the computers by end users e.g. update of patient records.
